Other Military SF books and great books for Research

REDLINERS by David Drake (published by Baen Books). This is an excellent book, I highly recommend this for all Military SF fans. A definate must read!

The novel is about a unit of elite commandos who have seen the worst in a war with an alien enemy. Each member of C41 has thier own nightmares and fears and each striker is a walking time bomb because of it, they have all 'Redlined' or gone over the edge.

The warriors of C41 cannot be discharged because of the threat they present to civilian society, they could snap at any time and kill numbers of innocents. Nor can they be sent back into battle because they might just as easily turn on each other and cause others to get killed, botching the mission in some way.

The highest ranking human has another idea on how to deal with these warriors. He plans one last mission for them and the warriors of C41 have to regain their humanity or die trying.

I found this book superb as far as technology goes and as far as characters go.
